Policies

My studio is a small operation and not a chain or corporate lesson studio or music store. Because of this, students deal with me directly for payment, scheduling, and any other issues. You may call, text, or email me at anytime.
  • Scheduling is done directly with the instructor. In case of absences, rescheduling lessons, or other issues students can contact me directly.
  • Payment can be done via cash, check, or Paypal. Students may pay for lessons on a weekly basis at their lesson or on a montly basis.
  • I do not charge for excused missed lessons for illness, vacations, or other issues that may arise. Students can work with me to find a make-up lesson or the payment can be pushed forward.
  • Students may be invoiced for missed lessons with no notification.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any prior musical experience to start?
  • Getting started is very accessible and no previous musical experience is needed.
I'm an advanced, experienced musician. Can you help me improve?
  • I have a masters degree in music performance from New England Conservatory. I have played most styles of music professionally and have taught a wide range of styles and topics to advanced players for decades. I'd encourage experienced musicians who are interested in lessons to call and chat about their goals or come in for a trial lesson to see if it is a good fit.
Do you teach adults?
  • I often get calls from prospective adult students hwo have some reservations because of age. The reality is that more than half of my students are adults, ranging from college aged students to retired people. It is very common for adults of any age to study an instruments and excel at it.
How much are the lessons?
  • Half hour lessons are $30.00 and one hour lessons are $60.00.
How are lesson prices determined?
  • Lesson prices are consistent with other music lesson studios and music instructors in the region and nationally.
What if I miss a lesson for illness, vacation, etc?
  • Some absences are to be expected. I will work directly with the students to reschedule missed lessons, or the payment can simply be pushed forward to cover the next lesson.
Are there materials to buy?
  • Music books, sheet music, additional materials, reeds. etc. will need to be purchased as needed.
What is the youngest age that you will teach?
  • While I don't have an exact age limit, I prefer to work with students who are somewhat self-motivated and driven to play an instrument. I have had students under the age of 10. I prefer to teach young kids who want to be in lessons and are taking lessons to expand their world.
